"There are few Pauline statements more controversial than Romans 10:4, specifically the meaning of the word τέλος, telos.

τέλος γὰρ νόμου Χριστὸς εἰς δικαιοσύνην παντὶ τῷ πιστεύοντι.

The verse has traditionally been rendered, “For Christ is the end of the Law for righteousness to everyone who believes.” Some say, “For the goal at which the Torah aims is the Messiah” while others prefer new beginning. Still others offer, “For Messiah is the end of the Torah, that everyone who has faith may be justified” or “Messiah is the culmination of the Torah so that there may be righteousness for everyone believes.”

Here, as the title indicates, we will consider what interpreters have been saying about this verse over many years and then offer our conclusion.” (From Chapter 1)

Endorsements:
“This study on telos presents the case that translating the verse as pointing to the end of the Law misses Paul’s point. The full range of interactions with other views, makes this a valuable study on how to read the passage.”—Darrell L. Bock, Ph.D.; Howard G. Hendricks Ctr. for Christ. Leadership; Sr. Research Prof., New Testament Studies, Dallas Theol. Sem.; Humboldt Scholar (Tubingen University, Germany); past president of the Evangelical Theological Society

“A real gem. My heart leaped with joy as I read how clearly and deftly these two authors dealt with Romans 10:4 and its related passages. The solution given is so plainly in front of us.” Dr. Walter C. Kaiser, Jr.; President Emeritus; Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary

“This was an amazing study. We finally have a Messianic Jewish presentation on this key subject which deals well with the literature. I highly recommend this.”— Daniel Juster. Th. D. Tikkun Global. Founding President. UMJC

“A superb and fresh contribution to the area of Messianic Jewish theology. I am very grateful for the Seif’s painstaking effort to compile this needed and well-researched volume. Both scholarly and readable, this book will be appreciated by all who have an interest in the theology of Paul and the Jewishness of the Gospel.”— Dr. Mitch Glaser, President, Chosen People Ministries, New York
